This fine early 20th-century kneehole writing desk by Maple & Co of London displays superb proportions and exceptional craftsmanship from one of Britain’s most respected furniture makers. Maple & Co designed this rare example in an unusual double bow-front form, featuring two banks of three graduated drawers flanking a long central drawer that proudly carries the original maker’s stamp.

The workshop selected only the finest veneers, inlays, and marquetry, applying them generously across the entire desk. The decoration continues not only to the front but also across the back and inside the kneehole, a true sign of quality and attention to detail. The writing surface retains a simple black, edge-tooled leather top, perfectly suited to both use and display.

Eight elegant tapering legs lined in boxwood support the desk and terminate in petite brass castors, allowing ease of movement while maintaining a refined stance. This Maple & Co antique writing desk stands as a wonderful example of early 20th-century English craftsmanship, premium timber selection, and enduring design from one of the great London workshops.
