This wonderful and rare late 19th-century Kashmiri tray, originating from Northern India, showcases exceptional decorative metalwork and craftsmanship. Crafted in copper and originally silver plated, the piece displays an unusually large, multi-lobed form, allowing it to function equally well as a decorative tray or wall hanging.
Skilled artisans hand-worked the surface using traditional repoussé techniques, combining deep relief modelling with intricate piercing to create remarkably fine detail across the front. The level of workmanship remains crisp and highly expressive, reflecting the quality associated with Kashmiri metalwork of the period.
A very rare survivor, this antique repoussé tray offers strong visual impact and stands as a true conversation piece within any decorative arts or interior setting.
