A fine early 19c kneehole writing desk of lovely proportions from the renowned workshops of Maple & Co, London. Of unusual double bow front form with two flanks of three graduated drawers and one long center draw with the all important makers stamp. Astounding quality of workmanship, with only the best choice of veneers, inlays and marquetery to profusely decorate this lovely desk all over, including the back and even inside the kneehole. The top has a simple Black edge tooled leather, the whole raised on eight tapering Boxwood lined legs terminating in petite brass castors. A wonderful example of the best craftsmanship and choice of timbers from one of the great workshops!
Excellent all round condition, lightly polished, complete and no breakages, all handles and castors are original, some fading to leather in places
