Carters of London Antique Adjustable Oak Reading Writing Table Cast Iron

This excellent antique adjustable reading and writing table dates to the turn of the 19th–20th century and comes from the renowned workshops of John Carter of London. Carter produced a small range of highly functional tables that have since become increasingly desirable, and this example perfectly demonstrates the maker’s practical yet elegant approach to design.

The table features a quarter-cut oak veneered top mounted on a robust cast-iron base with original fittings. The design allows the user to adjust both the height and the front-to-back angle of the top, making the table exceptionally versatile.
